In a Machine Room-Less (MRL) lift, the drive machine is installed inside the hoistway, typically at the top.
In the Top Pulley configuration, the deflector pulley is mounted above the crosshead, allowing the ropes to descend to the car sling, pass through the counterweight, and wrap back to the traction sheave.
This setup reduces overhead requirements while maintaining efficient traction and excellent ride comfort.
